What is Gorge Scrambling?

Gorge scrambling or gorge walking is one of the most popular outdoor adventure activities that
Adventure
21
offer and one that people come back for time after time.

Gorge scrambling or gorge walking is an activity for all ages and for most abilities, REMEMBER - you don't have to be able to swim, we supply all the equipment and instructions to keep you above the water! if you are unsure please give us a call.

Keep the gorge scramble as wet or as dry as you like as you follow one of many streams, becks and gorges. The only way to describe this activity is to say that it's like caving with the roof off!

During your gorge scrambling session, waterfall climbs, tricky rock traverses, swimming through deep rock pools, rocky obstacles and plunge pool jumping are all a part of the fun. You won't believe how much fun gorge scrambling is until you've tried it!

We have many gorge scrambling and gorge walking venues in and around Lancashire within easy reach of Chorley, Preston, Blackburn, Bolton, Chorley, Rivington, Anglezarke and Manchester and in Cumbria, particularly around the North, South, East and the West Lake District areas, for example Coniston, Ambleside, eskdale valley, Windermere, Keswick, Hawkshead, Kendal, Bowness, Ullswater to name just a few.

Reviews for Gorge Scrambling

Climbing and gorge scrambling.

We had an amazing day climbing and gorge scrambling with Adventure 21! Kety was wonderful throughout the booking process and in organising our activities. She really took the time to make sure we were doing things which suited us and our abilities. Paul our instructor was brilliant! He was incredibly patient and informative, talking through everything in detail and making sure the day was fun and challenging. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!

Great Fun Gorge Scrambling

We had a great afternoon gorge scrambling. It really was excellent fun, we were provided all the kit needed and were made to feel extremely safe throughout the afternoon. Our instructor was great and really friendly, very patient and encouraged everyone to push their limits of adventure. It was great value for money, a full afternoon, and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a little adventure in the Lake District!!!

Gorge Scrambling and Canyoneering

My husband and I decided to book this activity as part of our mini-moon. We had a wonderful time gorge scrambling and canyoning with Adventure 21 and Dave. Their cabin is located next to the beautiful Coniston Lake and the canyoning was only a short walk away. Dave was very knowledgeable about the area and activity and allowed us to go at our own pace. The jumps and climbs were exciting and we felt supported all the way. They provided us with wetsuits and waterproofs which was much appreciated because the water was a bit chilly but it didn't take long to get used to it. Also shout out to Quackers the rescue duck who unfortunately couldn't come on our gorge scrambling activity but accompanies Dave on all other activities as honorary guide.
We would definitely recommend gorge scrambling and canyoneering with Adventure 21 if you are looking for an exciting activity to do in the lakes.

Absolutely brilliant

This is the third stag event I've been on with Dave and the team, and as always they didn't disappoint. Organising the event was made very simple by Kety, and our group leader Paul was first class.
Coniston is such a beautiful part of the world, and getting to experience it through the gorge walking, canyoning and kayaking was a real pleasure.
We were well looked after, the best thing about these trips is the great fun and laughter that the group leaders bring. It's always such a treat to come on these events, I can't wait to come back for more.
If you've got a group event (or even as a couple), I really can't recommend these guys highly enough.
