Risk involved - working beneath the ground. Walking and crawling on uneven ground over lose rocks. Wading and crawling through water. Climbing and scrambling up, down and through rock shafts and tunnels in the dark.

Hazards arising from risk - submersion in cold deep water, tripping, slipping, falling and banging head. Possibility of entrapment under ground in some cases by rising water levels.

Effects of hazard - cuts, bruises, sprains and in severe cases broken bones. Hypothermia and in severe cases drowning.

Risk management - suitable clothing, safety equipment and footwear to be worn throughout the session. Experienced person to run the session.
